Revenue
Profitability as your accountants define it.
Revenue is not margin. A campaign can be credited with revenue all month and still lose money once delivery cost, discounts and returns are counted. Your accounting system already holds that answer, by period and by dimension, and Realvertising reads those figures instead of inventing a parallel set. The budget engine enforces the minimum margin written into the Campaign Constitution; the Growth Brain explains which campaigns sit below it.
In short: Realvertising reads recognised measures, cost measures, gross margin and contribution from your accounting system in the period dimensions it already keeps, and the budget engine checks spend against them. A dated media-cost extract goes back the other way as data for your team to book, never as a posted entry.
What it is
A double-entry accounting platform holds the booked view of a business: recognised measures, cost measures, gross margin and contribution, organised by period, entity and the dimensions of your chart of accounts. Definitions live there, maintained by the people accountable for them.
What Realvertising receives
- Recognised and booked measures by period and entity, in the dimensions your chart of accounts uses.
- Cost measures attached to products and services: delivery cost, fulfilment, discounts and returns, classified as your accounting system classifies them.
- Gross margin and contribution per product line, segment or channel, delivered with the definition that produced each figure.
- Period dimensions and close state, so every figure is known to be open or closed.
What it sends back
- A dated media-cost extract by channel, campaign and period, in the dimensions your accounting system asked for — data for your team to book, never a posted entry.
- The mapping between campaigns and your cost centres or product lines, kept in one place so both systems group spend the same way.
- A variance note when media cost read from the networks differs from the cost measure booked for the same period.
What this lets you ask
Questions this connection makes answerable.
- Which channels are above the minimum margin set in our Constitution this period, and which are below it?
- What is contribution after delivery cost on the products our highest-spend campaigns sell?
- Did last month's spend increase appear in booked cost where we expected it?
How it connects
- 1Authorise your accounting system and select the entities, periods and dimensions Realvertising reads.
- 2Point each margin rule at the measure that defines it; the definition stays in your accounting system, and its name is printed on every screen that uses the figure.
- 3Set minimum margin and maximum CAC in the Campaign Constitution, then decide whether a breach pauses spend automatically or raises an approval.
Where it stops
- Realvertising does no accounting. Recognition rules, cost classification and margin definitions belong to your accounting system, and this connection reads the result.
- Closed periods are exact and open ones are not. Margin decisions inside an open period run on provisional figures and say so on the screen.
- Margin arrives at period granularity, not per click. A per-campaign margin figure is only as fine as the dimensions your accounting system carries.
