Revenue is the wrong target when margins differ by product.

Two campaigns at identical ROAS can contribute very differently once cost of goods, discounts and refunds are counted. When your finance system and your accounting system are connected, the business metrics service supplies contribution by order, product and customer segment, and the budget engine solves on that instead of on revenue. Realvertising does not define those figures and does not do your accounting; it reads the definitions your finance system already holds. Where margin data is absent, the objective falls back to revenue and the split is labelled as such.

Refunds arrive after the report

A platform books a conversion at checkout; the refund settles three weeks later and never reaches that platform's number. Collected revenue, returns and chargebacks arrive from your finance system on their own clock, and contribution is revised as they land. The next solve runs on the revised figure, not the checkout-day one.

The numbers are read, never derived

The business metrics service owns the calculation of contribution, CAC and payback, using your finance system's definitions. The model plans which of those figures a decision needs, requests them, and explains what came back; it computes no margin of its own. One definition of profit runs from the finance system through to the budget.

Minimum margin is a hard floor

The Campaign Constitution holds a contribution floor and a CAC ceiling, for the account or for a single campaign. The engine solves inside those limits rather than trading them off against volume. A split that would breach either is not one the system can return.
